What is Dussehra?
Dussehra which is also known as Vijayadashmi marks the significance of the great victory of Shree Ram over Ravan. Dussehra is celebrated as the victory of good over evil across the India and the world.

In 2023 Dussehra will be celebrated on 24th October.
Why Dussehra is Celebrated?
As mentioned earlier that on this day Lord Ram won the battle against the evil king Ravana by killing him along with his army. On this holy festival, people burn the statue of Ravana who was evil king which signifies burning the evilness. Ravana was definitely an evil king but was also a great scholar and huge Shiva bhakt.
Ravana has 10 heads in which 6 Heads are for Shashtras and 4 for Vedas. The only bad thing about Ravana was he abducted Seeta. Ravana’s attitude killed himself as people says.
Food to Eat on Dussehra?
On Dussehra festival people love to eat Fafda and Jalebi food all over India. This is one of the most selling food items in streets of India. There is many theories behind why people eat Jalebi Fafda on Dussehra. Many people says that Lord Ram loves Jalebi and Lord Hanuman loved food made of Gram Flour. Other suggests that after Navratri people tend to break their fast and food made of Gram flour is best to break the fast. Dussehra generally comes after the last day of Navratri.
