What is Children’s Day?
Children’s Day is celebrated all around the world not just in India but the date defers in all country based on various reasons. In India Children’s Day is celebrated to increase the awareness of Child Education & Rights. Children’s Day is tribute to the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru who fondly known as Chacha Nehru.
Children’s Day History
In India Children’s Day is celebrated on 14th November on the occasion of Nehru’s birthday. In India children’s day celebration started on 1956 prior to the death of first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Earlier Children’s day was celebrated on 20th November which is also observes as Universal Children’s Day by United Nations.
But after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru Children’s Day started to celebrate on 14th November because Nehru was quite popular with the kids in India during that time. To celebrate the children’s day on 14th November one resolution was also passed in the parliament to give the best farewell to the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
In 2018 Children’s day celebration seen some controversy as well when 60 BJP MP’s requested PM Narendra Modi to shift the children’s day from 14th November to 26th December on the birth anniversary of “Sahibzades” who is son of Guru Gobind Singh.
